Every once in a while we have some spare time to experiment. This Sacramento is the result of such experimentation. I really wanted to hear how two Thunderbird pickups would sound in the Middle and Bridge positions, creating sort of the ultimate vintage sweet spot powerhouse.
This is an all Maple solid-body with a Monterillo fingerboard and headstock wings. It has Abalone face and side dots. The pickups are made by Steve Soar at Thunderbucker Ranch. If you haven’t heard his work, DO IT! The controls are volume, tone, and a 3-way mini toggle. The bass is currently strung up with flats and it punches like nothing I’ve ever heard before!
The Sacramento was originally designed as an homage to one of my favorite bass brands of all time. It began as a short-scale, chambered body bass, but quickly proved to be an excellent platform for variations on a theme. Now, three different scale lengths are available (30.5”, 32”, and 34”) as well as a solid bodied version.
